Albuquerque’s largest and most visited show devoted to barbecue and spicy foods will be held March 6-8 at the Sandia Resort and Casino.  The National Fiery Foods and Barbecue Show includes 200 booths packed with products that will spice up your life.  Every year there are celebrity chefs on hand, and demos on topics such as smoking and grilling.

The theme for the 2015 show is, “The Wild, Wild West” with the new mascot, Chile the Kid. The hot and spicy theme will include a variety of chile peppers, from the tiny orange ones to red ones, habanero and everything in between. Vendors will have chile in many forms, such as dried powders, hot sauces and more. There will be chile cooking equipment, cooking instructions, cookbooks and magazines and many types of chile condiments to choose from.

Barbecue is a staple of the show as well. Barbecue sauces that are sweet and tart, hot and spicy, and with cooking demos to show you the different ways to cook these special sauces.  Barbecue experts will talk about how they make their products and how they use them.

The best part of the show is the food!  If you like spicy foods, you’ll find sauces, marinades, salsas, mustards, hot sauces, and more to choose from. Many vendors will allow you to taste samples before purchasing. A word of warning, be careful when selecting some of the hotter varieties of foods. If a vendor indicates that their product is hot, take their word for it. If not, you might just be running to the nearest water fountain.

Here’s a useful exhibitors list that will be at the show this year. Check back regularly as more great companies will be listed.

The annual Scovie Awards competition awards prizes in a range of categories, to include: specialty chile barbecue sauce hot sauce, cheeses, condiments, meat, sweet heat, candy, jams, and snacks.
